Naguib Onsi Sawiris (born June 17, 1955 in Sohag Governorate, Tahta District) is considered one of the most prominent Egyptian businessmen. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Orascom Investment Holding Company, and the son of Onsi Sawiris, founder of the multi-activity parent Orascom Group.

Naguib Sawiris holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master's degree in Technical Management from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. He launched OTV, which launched on January 31, 2007, and ONTV, which launched on October 6, 2008.

He also contributed to Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper. In 2015, Forbes magazine estimated his wealth at $2.9 billion, ranking him 577th on the list of the world's richest people, and fourth in Egypt.

Naguib and his family donated three billion Egyptian pounds to the Tahya Misr Fund.

Naguib Sawiris's beginning He started his career in Egypt after returning from his study trip in 1987 by establishing a sector in his father’s company (Orascom) called the Technology Sector as an agency for HP computers. He continued to develop this sector, so he added the computer communications unit from AT&T in 1990 to complete the work system in this field. Then his relationship with the company developed until he obtained the agency for AT&T communications devices in 1992. From that date, his relationship with the communications sector and his passion for it began. He was assisted in this field by the first communications engineer he worked with, Engineer Osama El-Khouly.

In 1994, Naguib Sawiris established the first internet company, InTuch. In 1996, he established the first satellite communications company in Egypt, ESC. In 1997, he launched his mobile phone venture, partnering with Orange and Motorola to create Mobinil Telecom, which acquired 70% of the Egyptian Company for Mobile Services in Egypt, known as Mobinil. This marked the second turning point in his progress in the field of telecommunications.

Since Naguib Sawiris joined the Orascom Group, which includes his family's companies, in 1979, he has contributed to the growth and diversification of the company's activities, making it the largest and most diversified private sector organization in Egypt. The Orascom Group holds the largest capital stake on the Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchanges.

Naguib Sawiris was the first to establish and pave the way for the Orascom Group's communications and information technology sector. Following his success in this sector and other sectors within the company, management decided to divide Orascom into a group of separate companies: Orascom Telecom, Orascom Construction Industries and its website, Orascom Hotels and Development, and Orascom Technology Systems.

Naguib Sawiris has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Orascom Telecom Holding since its establishment in late 1997.

His first goal was to form a team of expert Egyptian engineers.

In the field of GSM networks, Mobinil was the model school for achieving this goal. It adopted a strategy of placing an Egyptian engineer alongside every foreign expert to observe and learn. It also enriched the company's administrative structure with Egyptian cadres who would help achieve this goal.

Naguib Sawiris's political participation Following the 2011 Egyptian revolution, Sawiris founded the Free Egyptians Party. In September 2015, he offered to purchase an island off Greece or Italy to help hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing the Syrian conflict; however, he acknowledged that the plan could face challenges related to judicial systems and customs regulations.
