A touching farewell to Sheikh Hazza Al Nahyan after he passed away today.

Emirati authorities announced the death of Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan Al Nahyan on Thursday, according to a statement issued by the Presidential Court, reported by the official Emirates News Agency.

The UAE Presidential Court mourns Sheikh Hazza The statement read: "In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O reassured soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing, and enter among My servants and enter My Paradise. God's words are true. With hearts that believe in God's will and destiny, the Presidential Court mourns the late Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who passed away today."

The statement added: "The Diwan expresses its sincere condolences and sympathy, asking God Almighty to bestow His vast mercy and forgiveness on the deceased, and to inspire his family and relatives with patience and solace. 'To God we belong and to Him we shall return.'"

The court did not reveal whether the deceased held a government position, but he is a descendant of the late founder of the state, Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan.

This is the second death of a prominent member of the Al Nahyan family this May. The UAE Presidential Court announced the death of Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Al Ain Region, on May 1.

Information about Sheikh Hazza Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan was born in Al Ain in 1965. He completed his postgraduate studies at the United Arab Emirates University, graduating from the College of Political Science and Administration.

On March 30, 2023, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in his capacity as Ruler of Abu Dhabi, issued an Emiri Decree appointing Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan as Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan began his career working in the country's security agencies, joining the State Security Service in the 1980s. He then served as Deputy Chairman of the Service from 1982 to 1992, and then as Chairman of the State Security Service until 2006.

In October of the same year, the late UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan issued a federal decree appointing him as National Security Advisor, a position he held until February 2016.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan played a significant role in strengthening the role of the Supreme National Security Council as a key center for sovereign decision-making in the federal state, by providing accurate information and in-depth analysis within the framework of the supreme interests of the union.
