Actress Samar Abdel Aziz dies at the age of 52

Syrian actress Samar Abdel Aziz passed away at the age of 52 after suffering from successive health crises.

She spent her final days at Al-Taliani Hospital in Damascus, where she faced complications from hepatitis resulting from a severely weakened immune system, following a previous battle with cancer, which she was diagnosed with in 2021.

A rich artistic career and artistic family roots

Samar Abdel Aziz belongs to a prominent artistic family; she is the daughter of the lyric poet Nazmi Abdel Aziz, the sister of the artist Reem Abdel Aziz, and her uncle is the famous composer Azmi Moura. Throughout her career, she has presented a number of prominent songs such as: “Yesad Li Halmsa”, “Ta’alamna”, “Bihayatna La Tza’alo”, “Ya Wolf Sabrak Ali”, and “Zahrat Al-Amani”. Personal trauma and struggle with illness

In 2021, Samar suffered an emotional shock after her divorce from director Mohamed Marouf after just 12 days of marriage. Subsequently, she was diagnosed with cancer and underwent a double mastectomy. She then completed chemotherapy until she was declared cured in 2023. However, the repercussions of the illness and treatment took their toll on her health, leading to a recent deterioration in her condition.
