The court ruled that the defendant should be sentenced to one year in prison with hard labor instead of two years, while upholding the remaining provisions of the ruling, including requiring him to pay temporary civil compensation of EGP 40,000 to the victim. </p><figure class="image image_resized" style="width:75%;"><img style="aspect-ratio:600/338;" src="https://cdn.sbisiali.com/news/images/1a3fea04-48c7-4d2e-84ab-2f0e2d21b62b.jpeg" alt="Omar Zahran"></figure><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> In this regard, the court explained in its reasoning that it used its discretionary power to reduce the sentence, taking into account the defendant's health conditions and advanced age, in addition to his lack of previous criminal charges, in accordance with Article 117/3 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which allows the court to use leniency in sentencing. The first instance court had issued its ruling sentencing the defendant to two years in prison with hard labor, in addition to civil compensation, before he appealed the ruling before the Court of Appeal and then before the Court of Cassation.</p>
