Ahmed Hegazy breaks silence and reveals details of his exclusion from the national team camp

Ahmed Hegazy, player of the Saudi Neom team and the Egyptian national team, explained the details of his departure from the Egyptian national team camp, stressing that he did not withdraw from the national team camp before the match against Botswana, which will be held next Tuesday in the second round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Details of Hegazy's exclusion from the Egyptian national team camp Hegazy wrote on his Instagram account: "I did not apologize for leaving the camp, but I was excluded by a decision from the technical director of the Egyptian national team today."

He added: "Regarding yesterday's match, I did not apologize for not participating, and what happened was a reaction to statements made by one of the coach's assistant staff, in front of everyone."

Hegazy pointed out that throughout his 13 years with the national team, and his participation in 100 international matches, he did not exhibit any negative behavior, stressing that the interest of the national team was and still is a priority for him, wishing the team success.

It is worth noting that Hegazy left the Egyptian national team camp this morning after the altercation that occurred with the technical staff during the Cape Verde match that was held at Cairo Stadium. Hegazy refused to be a substitute for his injured teammate Rami Rabia in the 80th minute of the match, which prompted the technical director to replace Rabia with Ahmed Ramadan Beckham.

After the match, which ended with Egypt winning 3-0, Hossam Hassan commented in the press conference, saying, “What happened is normal in football. Players sometimes get angry because of not participating, but I preferred not to include Hegazy to protect him and the team because he was not fully focused.”
