She added in her statements that magic is one of the things that are proven by Sharia, and God Almighty mentioned it in His saying: “And they learn from them that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife” (Al-Baqarah: 102), which indicates that magic may be used to harm people and spoil relationships, but it has no effect except with God’s permission.

The professor of interpretation at Al-Azhar University continued: “If the talismans that appear in the series are inspired by real magic books, they may cause psychological or spiritual harm to those who deal with them or use them. However, if they are just random writing, which is likely in artistic works, they have no real effect and there is no need to worry about them.”

She warned against falling into the clutches of charlatans and sorcerers, stressing that legal fortification is the only way to protect oneself from magic and its effects, through: reading the Mu’awwidhat (Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas) and Ayat Al-Kursi daily, adhering to prayer and morning and evening remembrances, and seeking help from God and trusting in Him, because magic has no effect except with His permission.
