Aswan honors Lebleba, the screen child who became a cinema icon

In a cinematic night celebrating women's achievements in the arts, the Aswan International Women's Film Festival honored Egyptian actress Lebleba by awarding her the Isis Achievement Award, recognizing an artistic career spanning more than six decades of creativity and diversity.

From childhood to the top: Lebleba's journey between the spotlight and success

Lebleba began her artistic journey when she was just five years old, and over the years she continued to portray diverse characters that have shaped the memories of generations of Arab audiences. She has appeared in 94 films, including landmark dramas such as “Hot Night,” “Against the Government,” “The Other,” and “Alexandria New York,” as well as critically acclaimed comedy hits like “Watch Out for the Line” and “Take Care of Your Neighbors.”

She collaborated with great directors such as Youssef Chahine and Anwar Wagdi, and stood alongside major stars such as Adel Emam, Omar Sharif, and Ahmed Zaki, leaving her mark on the history of Egyptian and Arab cinema.

Her talent was not limited to acting; she studied classical ballet and sang 268 songs, including 30 for children, which enjoyed remarkable popularity in the 1970s and 1980s.
