Baba Idris the Pit.. The Journey of Erkan Kesal, Doctor, Actor, Director and Writer

Erkan Kesal was born in 1959 in Nevşehir, Turkey. He is a Turkish doctor, actor, director and writer. He graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1984 and started working as a doctor in a health clinic at Keskin State Hospital, then worked in the private sector.

He stated that his first acting experience was with Nuri Bilge Ceylan in the movie Far Away. He also wrote the screenplay for the movie Once Upon a Time in Anatolia with Ebru and Nuri Bilge Ceylan and in 2011, he was nominated for Best Screenplay at the Asia Pacific Awards.

The most important roles of Erkan Kesal On the other hand, Erkan Kesal presented important roles, most notably his role in the series The Pit, directed by Sinan Ozturk and Ozgur Sevimli, in which he excelled in the role of Idris Koçovali, and he participated in the series Cold Hell, directed by Stefan Rozovitzky in 2017.

Erkan Kesal also played a role in The Inside directed by Uluş Bayraktar in 2016 and participated in I Am Not Him, directed by Tayfun Birsilimoğlu in 2014.

Erkan Kesal also participated in many works, including “The Government of a Woman 2” and “I Miss You Too,” which was shown in 2013. His other works include “You Light Up the Night,” “Yozgat Nights,” “The Government of a Woman,” “The Template,” “Once Upon a Time in Anatolia,” “Partoson’s Journey,” “Three Monkeys,” and “Distant.”

Erkan Kesal played the role of Idris Koçovali in the series The Pit, and the series revolves around the most dangerous neighborhood in Istanbul under the control of the Koçovali family, but in this neighborhood drug dealing is prohibited.

The events revolve around Yamaç, the youngest son of the Koçovali family, who left his neighborhood and family behind and decided to travel far away to start a new life. Yamaç met a beautiful girl and fell in love with her and decided to propose to her, only to be surprised by his mother coming to him and telling him that he must return to the pit because she needs him. He leaves his wife and lover alone and returns to the pit, after which the adventures and conspiracies to seize the pit begin.

Because viewers were so attached to the fourth season of The Pit and interacted with its events to the point that they demanded that the production company produce other parts.

It is worth noting that The Pit is a Turkish drama series, family, action, crime and gangs, which brought together a large number of Turkish stars. The last episode of the series was shown after it lasted for 4 continuous hours, starting with a party where the heroes of the work gathered, then a summary of the previous episode was shown, then the last episode. At the end of the episode, a new series was revealed that will start soon, called 3 Kurus, starring Aras Bulut, the hero of the Pit.

The Pit is a Turkish drama series of action, crime and gangs. Produced by Moon Production Company, starring Aras Bulut İynemli, Dilan Çiçek Deniz, Erkan Kolçak Kostendil, Oner Erkan, Ercan Kesal, Riza Kocaoğlu, Alperen Duymaz from the first part and Necip Memili.

Yamaç (Aras Bulut İynemli) is the youngest son of the Koçovali family. He left his neighborhood and family behind and decided to travel far away to start a new life. He left his wife and lover alone and returned to the pit. After that, the adventures and conspiracies to seize the pit began. Idris, who is Yamaç's father, is the owner of the pit whose slogan is (The pit is our home and Idris is our father). Idris's eldest son Kahraman dies in an attack on him when he was with his brother Selim. Idris Koçovalı is a fictional character in the TV series Çukur, played by Erkan Kesal (and Erkan Özdal in some flashback scenes).

After losing half of his family, İdris Koçovalı arrives in a neighborhood with his older brother Cumali Koçovalı Sr. in 1964. He names this neighborhood "Çukur". He becomes the leader of Çukur due to his generosity. Together with his close friends Emy and Paşa, he protects Çukur. They never want to sell drugs in Çukur. When he finds out that his older brother Cumali is selling drugs in Çukur, he shoots him four times. When Cumali miraculously survives, İdris asks him to leave Çukur. Cumali eventually leaves, but with the promise that he will return.

Years later, İdris plays the role of a father who has become more friendly than in his later years. In 2017, İdris comes across a name called Vartolu Sadettin. Vartolu wants to sell drugs, but İdris and his sons Kahraman and Selim oppose this. When they leave the hotel, Vartolu's men shoot Kahraman.

Selim can't do anything and Kahraman dies. Idris has a heart attack due to the shock of this. The main treatment for his wife Sultan is to go to Paris and return to Çukurova with his youngest son Yamaç. When Yamaç arrives, he doesn't get along well with Idris at first, but later things get better. After a while, Çukurova decides that the enemy is not only Vartolu, the man behind him is Baykal. Idris also learns that Vartolu is his son from his ex-lover Mihriban. The Sultan did not tell him this hidden truth for years. Idris is also shocked by this truth.
