Baligh Hamdi.. An Arab musical legend told on screen

Arabic music lovers are preparing to receive a new drama that tells the biography of one of the most prominent composers in the history of Arabic music, “Baligh Hamdi.” This anticipated series will take us on a journey through the life of this genius musician, who left an unforgettable mark on the world of art.

Baligh Hamdi: The Sultan of Melodies Baligh Hamdi was born on October 7, 1931 in the Shubra district of Cairo. His passion for music began in his childhood, where he learned to play the oud at an early age.

During his artistic career, Baligh Hamdi collaborated with the greatest male and female singers in the Arab world, such as Umm Kulthum, Abdel Halim Hafez, and Warda Al-Jazairia. He also presented immortal melodies such as “Seerat Al-Hob” and “Ansak” by Umm Kulthum, and “Zi Al-Hawa” by Abdel Halim Hafez.

Series details The new series is written by Ayman Al-Hakim, who reviewed in his book “Baligh Hamdi.. Sultan of Melodies” the most important stations in Baligh Hamdi’s life. The series will consist of 30 episodes, and aims to present a comprehensive picture of Baligh’s life, starting from his upbringing in the Rod El Farag neighborhood, through his collaboration with major artists, and up to his death in France in 1993.

Although the series is still in the writing stage, writer Ayman Al-Hakim expressed his hope that the project will see the light of day soon. A production company has not yet been found to implement this project, but Al-Hakim confirmed that the work will reveal new aspects of Baligh Hamdi’s life, and will be a tribute to this great musician.

It is impossible to talk about Baligh Hamdi without mentioning his great influence on Arabic music, as he is considered the second innovator of oriental music after Sayed Darwish , as he introduced many innovations to melodies and musical scales, which made him occupy a special place in the hearts of music lovers.
