Court decides to adapt "My Soulmate" from the novel "Aber"

Author Mohamed El Sayed Rahma announced that the court ruled in his favor in the case of the film “My Soulmate,” starring Hassan El Raddad and written by Amani El Tunsi, confirming that a ruling was issued that the film was adapted from his novel “Aber.”

Details of the dispute over the story of the movie “My Soulmate” Mohamed El-Sayed Rahma explained, during his intervention in the program “With Khairy” with the media figure Khairy Ramadan, broadcast on Al-Mahwar channel, that he traveled to several countries and thus the idea of the novel “Aber” came to him, noting, “Each of the worlds in my novel was based on a personal experience I had in it.”

He continued: "I resorted to the judiciary to preserve my rights, and I actually obtained a court ruling confirming that the film My Soulmate is adapted from my novel Aber."

Amani Al-Tunisi's lawyer: Legal action will be taken For his part, Ihab Al-Sayed, the lawyer of the author Amani Al-Tunisi, said that his client Amani Al-Tunisi did not attend any of the court sessions related to the film, and that the economic courts have a law specific to them. He confirmed that the court’s ruling is a first-degree ruling and that legal action will be taken in accordance with the Economic Courts Law.

It is worth noting that the Cairo Economic Court ruled in favor of Mohamed El Sayed Rahma against Amani El Tunsi, obligating her to pay half a million pounds in compensation for exploiting the novel “Aber”, which was published by Dar El Zayat for Publishing and Distribution in 2019, and turning it into a movie called “Twin Soul”, starring Hassan El Raddad and produced by Ahmed El Sobky.

Soulmate is an Egyptian film released in 2020, directed by Othman Abu Laban, written by Amani Al-Tunisi, and starring Hassan Al-Raddad, Amina Khalil, Ragaa Al-Geddawy, Bayoumi Fouad, and Hanan Suleiman.
