Deadly insistence on acting..Ranveer Singh's career and breaking a record for films

Ranveer Singh is an Indian actor who works in Bollywood and also a writer, born on July 6, 1985. Ranveer Singh's dream was to be an actor since childhood, but during his university studies he felt that the idea of acting was out of reach and focused on creative writing.

After completing his Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University Bloomington, Ranveer Singh became interested in acting again after returning to India.

Ranveer Singh was reportedly cast for the lead role in a Yash Raj Films project called Band Baaja Baaraat, in 2010. The romantic comedy was cast to play a wedding planner boy and Singh was asked to model himself after a Delhi man named Bittu Sharma. The film's director, Maneesh Sharma, sent him to the Delhi University campus during a casting call for the film, and it was there that Singh drew inspiration for his character for the film.

Following the film's release, Band Baaja Baaraat became a critical and commercial success, with Ranveer Singh's portrayal of Bittu being praised by critics.

Ranveer Singh won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut at the 56th Filmfare Awards. After Band Baaja Baaraat, Ranveer Singh continued to experiment with new roles like a con artist in Ladies vs Ricky Bahl in 2011 and a disguised robber in Lootera and signed a number of films with different directors.

Ranveer Singh's childhood dream

Singh always wanted to be an actor, and after joining school he started participating in school plays and debates. When he went to a birthday party, his grandmother asked him to dance and entertain her.

Ranveer Singh recalls that he suddenly jumped in the park and started dancing to the song Chumma Chumma and he was thrilled and was interested in acting and dancing and stated that he always wanted to be an actor since I was a little kid, I knew that I had to do something related to the performing arts and I enjoyed acting the most as it combined a lot of different art forms.

On the other hand, Ranveer Singh stated, “I used to watch television a lot of times. I was very influenced by Bollywood,” he recalls. However, after joining Junior College at HR University of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai, Ranveer Singh realized that getting a start in the film industry was not easy at all, as it was mostly people with his film background who got excellent opportunities in Bollywood.

Ranveer Singh felt that the idea of acting was a far-fetched pursuit, but Ranveer focused on his second passion, which was creative writing, and moved to the United States to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University, Bloomington.

When Ranveer Singh moved to the United States, he decided to pursue acting alongside his studies. On the first day, the coach asked Singh to improvise and he was once again convinced that performing arts and acting was what he wanted to do, and he accepted into theatre as his secondary work.

On the other hand, after Ranveer Singh finished his studies and returned to Mumbai in 2007, Singh worked for several years in advertising as a copywriter, with agencies like O&M and JWT. He then started working as an assistant director, but left it to pursue acting seriously. Singh decided to send his portfolio to directors, stating, “My ambition was always to play a lead role in a film, so I refrained from doing any commercials, TV serials, music videos, as I felt that a fresh face always works much better. It was a gamble and I took the gamble to tell myself that I will give it my all for a lead role.”

Ranveer Singh says for the three years since 2007, Singh would go to producers' offices, show them his picture and ask for work. He would go for all sorts of auditions, but would not get any good opportunities. He would get calls for supporting roles once in four or five months. Everything was very bleak, very depressing. There were times when I would think whether I was doing the right thing or not.

It is worth noting that Deepika and Ranveer celebrated their wedding after a long love affair that lasted for several years. The wedding was held on the shores of Lake Como in Italy in 2018, and was limited to close friends and family only.

The wedding took place on 14th and 15th November 2018. On the first day, the marriage ceremony was held according to Konkani rituals followed by a Sindhi wedding on the second day. After their fairytale wedding in Italy, the newlyweds Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh set off for Bengaluru, India in the morning to attend the reception.
