Egyptian media icon Dr. Jilan Hamza passed away today, Friday, according to her family members, amidst the sadness of her followers and fans from all over the Arab world.

Who is Jilan Hamza? Jilan Hamza is one of the most prominent media figures in Egypt, who passed away leaving behind a rich cultural and media legacy.

She is an accomplished writer, journalist and novelist, and graduated from the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University, where she obtained a master’s degree with a thesis entitled “The Role of Intellectuals in Shaping Public Opinion.” She then obtained a doctorate in Mass Communication from Zagazig University, where her thesis dealt with “The Impact of Television on Youth.”

A career full of successful media programs She began her media career by presenting a number of famous television programs, including “In the Mirror,” which dealt with social and cultural topics.

She also presented the “Kashkool” program, directed by Nemat Rushdi and prepared by journalist Abdul Sattar Al-Tawila.

It also broadcast several programmes, such as “Test Your Knowledge”, “Art and Literature” and “Cultural Magazine”.

One of its most important programmes is “Kan Ayam”, which was shown during the month of Ramadan for twenty years.

And the program “Between the Lines”, which caught the attention of a wide segment of viewers in Egypt.

She has a sister, the media personality Kariman Hamza, who passed away at the beginning of this year. She is considered the first veiled female broadcaster in Egypt.
