Director Mohamed Sami announced his retirement from directing television drama, through his Facebook account.

He announced his travel abroad for two years to study one of his favorite fields, explaining that this year is the year of bidding farewell to directing television drama, as he wrote Farewell to Television Drama, this year was my last television work, and in it I bid farewell to series, a long journey of about 15 years.

Director Mohamed Sami added, “I gave everything I could to please the Arab audience, and thanks to God, I achieved successes with many stars and with important companies and channels. The audience always encouraged me, whether through reactions or by voting for me in awards. Any success I achieved was thanks to God and the audience. Those close to me probably know that I made this decision some time ago to retire from television directing, but I was finishing commitments with companies and stars, and thank God I finished them, and the last one was in 2025. I don’t have anything else I can offer on television, and I’m afraid of the audience getting satiated with my style and falling into the trap of repetition and the cycle of expectation and boredom. The only one who can always do that is God alone.”

On the other hand, director Mohamed Sami continued: “Thank God, my last two works, “Esh Esh” and “Sayed El Nas,” achieved success that I am happy about. Every day, my great country, Egypt, produces new, talented, and educated filmmakers who are able to present better than those before them, and we will always continue to present Egyptian works that the Arab public will rally around. I thank everyone who helped me on the journey, and I thank every colleague whose competition was a motivation for excellence.”

In this context, Mohamed Sami apologized for any scene I presented during the trip that was not well received or admired by the audience. In the end, the artist is always experimenting, and art is madness, as they say. Pray for me in the coming period, as I am traveling outside Egypt for two years to learn something new and study it, something I wanted to learn for a long time and postponed it a lot until I found myself getting older and afraid of losing time before I do something I wanted to do. I am convinced that a person can at any time decide to stop something he loves in order to do something else that he also loves and wants to try, but he needs a family to support him in making his decision. All the best to all my colleagues. I love you and thank you for the years of beautiful competition that made our names, and I wish myself success in the new step.
