Dubai Run 2024: Sheikh Hamdan leads more than 278,000 participants

Dubai witnessed an exceptional day with the return of the “Dubai Run” 2024, which transformed Sheikh Zayed Road into a festive sporting and cultural gathering, with a record participation of more than 278,000 runners of all ages and backgrounds.

The race was a successful culmination of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which has become an annual tradition that reflects Dubai’s commitment to promoting healthy living and physical activity.

Sheikh Hamdan leads the event: a symbol of community inspiration Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, known as Fazza, was the first to take part in the race, demonstrating his continued support for fitness initiatives in Dubai. “Dubai Run is a testament to the strength of the community and its determination to embrace a healthy lifestyle,” said Sheikh Hamdan.

His words reflect the spirit of the event, which brought together over a quarter of a million people, all wearing green event shirts, embodying community unity at the region’s largest mass sporting event.

Exciting events and a surprise appearance by Jason Derulo The event was not just a race, but an exceptional experience that included many side activities. One of the most notable surprises of the day was the appearance of the international artist Jason Derulo, who added an atmosphere of excitement to the event, as he interacted with the audience before the start of the race, accompanied by presenter Chris Fade.

In addition, the parade of luxury Dubai Police cars attracted attention, and the music of UNTOLD DJs along the 10-kilometre track generated excitement.

The event was also attended by Dubai Sports Council ambassadors, including Paralympic swimmer Jessica Smith, Lebanese basketball star Fadi El Khatib, and international player Bacary Sagna.

A celebration of sports and culture amidst Dubai's famous landmarks The 5km distance provided a unique opportunity for families and friends to enjoy an easy run, passing by Dubai’s most prominent landmarks such as Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera, making the race a unique sporting and cultural experience.

Live music performances and entertainment activities added a fun touch, with cardio hip hop performances, African drums, and the Dubai Drums Band increasing the interaction of participants and audiences.

Since its launch in 2017, the Dubai Fitness Challenge has become a key event on Dubai’s calendar, combining health promotion with celebrating community achievements.
