International director Chris Columbus shares his thoughts on HBO turning the popular Harry Potter film series into a new TV series.

The American director directed the first two parts of the original film series, Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone, which was released in 2001, and Chamber Of Secrets, which was released in 2002, and then worked as a producer on Prisoner Of Azkaban, which was released in 2004.

It is worth noting that during a new interview with People, Columbus gave his opinion on the new series, saying: I think it's an amazing idea, because there is a certain restriction when making a movie, as our movie was two hours and 40 minutes, and the second movie was almost the same length.

The director continued, explaining the fact that they have multiple episodes for each book, “I think that’s great, and you get all the things in the series that we didn’t get the chance to do in the movies.”

In the same vein, HBO Max confirmed that the new Harry Potter series will be filmed next summer in the same British studios where the original films were filmed, according to a report published on the nme website.
