Hesham Abdel Khaleq Makram at Hurghada Youth Cinema Festival

The organizers of the Hurghada Youth Cinema Festival announced that producer Hesham Abdel Khaleq, head of the Cinema Industry Chamber, will be honored at the opening ceremony of the second session, which is scheduled to be held from September 19 to 24, 2024.

Hesham Abdel Khaleq comments on the decision to honor him Hesham Abdel Khaleq expressed his appreciation and happiness for being honored by the festival, which contributes to communication between young talents and their artistic roots from previous generations.

The producer said that being honored by film festivals is a real indicator for any filmmaker that they are on the right track.

Stressing that this honor has a special flavor because it coincides with my election as president of the chamber, and I hope that it will be the beginning of efforts that will bear fruit for the Egyptian film industry.

Festival President stresses importance of honoring Hesham Abdel Khaleq Screenwriter Mohammed Al-Basousi, the festival’s president, pointed out that honoring Abdelkhaleq comes in recognition of the importance of the role he plays in the industry and its continuity.

He said that throughout its history of nearly 130 years, Egyptian cinema has been built on the shoulders of many names of producers who played vital and important roles in its continuity and development at the same time.

He added: The festival has adopted, since its first session, honoring prominent producers who have presented many distinguished works to cinema. Last year, we honored the great producer Gaby Khoury, and this year we honor a producer who played a major role in presenting generations of directors, actors, and stars in all fields and branches of the film industry, and he is the great producer Hisham Abdel Khaleq.

About Hesham Abdelkhaleq Hesham Abdel Khaleq produced many Egyptian films, reaching 23 films, including “About Love and Passion, Tito, Al-Gezira 1 and 2, Al-Mamarr, Al-Gerima, Al-Ins, Al-Nems, Timur, Shafika, Awlad Al-Am, Fasel, and Na’oud.”

His latest production was the film “Playing with the Boys” and “Max Gang.” He is currently producing the film “Death Squad,” starring Ahmed Ezz.

About Hurghada Youth Film Festival Hurghada Youth Cinema Festival is organized by the Arts Foundation for Culture and Media under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Red Sea Governorate, Air Cairo Company, and Sunrise Garden Beach Hotel. Its second session will be held from September 19 to 24, 2024.

The festival includes competitions for youth films from the first works of their directors and writers or that deal with issues specific to youth from feature and short films and a competition for student films. The festival also allocates an award under the title of the Green Award, which is given to films that support the idea of preserving the environment and climate.
