<p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr">Benjamin Mendy, the current full-back for the French team Lorient, has spoken about his experience of being imprisoned and tried on charges of rape during his time playing for Manchester City.</p><h2 style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> <span style="color:hsl(180, 75%, 60%);">Benjamin Mendy's statements</span></h2><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> In his statements to the British newspaper "The Telegraph", Mendy said: "Manchester City did not treat me fairly. Yes, I broke the rules and held parties during the Corona pandemic, but I was not the only one who did that.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> "A lot of Manchester City players were with me at those parties, including the captain, and everyone was doing what I did," he added, stressing that he was not looking for excuses but felt wronged, saying: "The club dealt with me individually and isolated me from the rest of the players."</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> Mendy pointed out that the only difference between him and his colleagues is that he is the only one who was accused of rape and publicly defamed, adding: "The club linked the accusations to my reckless actions, but I was not alone, and my salary was stopped, while nothing was deducted from any other player."</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> He also revealed that three of his teammates, Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling, stood by him financially during his trial and supported his family.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> Mendy has filed a lawsuit against Manchester City to claim wages that were withheld while he was in prison, and he was previously acquitted of nine cases related to sexual assault.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> It is worth noting that Benjamin Mendy joined Manchester City in the summer of 2017 from Monaco for £49.2 million. He played his last match with the team in August 2021 against Tottenham, and after being acquitted of all charges, he joined French club Lorient at the beginning of this season on a free transfer.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"><br><br></p>
