Varun Dhawan, born 24 April 1987, is an Indian actor who works in Hindi films. He is considered one of the highest-paid actors in India, and he appeared in the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list in 2010.

He starred in about 11 consecutive box office hits between 2012 and 2018.

Varun Dhawan is the son of film director David Dhawan, who graduated in Business Studies from Nottingham Trent University. He started his career as an assistant director to Karan Johar in the 2010 film My Name Is Khan and later made his acting debut in 2012 in Johar's teen drama Student of the Year.

Dhawan appeared at the trailer launch of Student of the Year in 2012. Varun Dhawan made his acting debut in 2012 with Johar's teen film Student of the Year alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt.

On the other hand, Varun Dhawan has been cast as Rohan Nanda, the teenage son of a wealthy businessman, who competes with his girlfriend Pat and best friend Malhotra to win an annual school tournament. Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania emerged as one of the highest-grossing Indian productions of the year, grossing Rs 1.11 billion (US$13 million) worldwide.

The crime thriller film Badlapur (2015) Director Sriram Raghavan stars Dhawan as Raghu, a father who takes 15 years to avenge the murder of his wife and son.

Filming Raghu was a terrifying experience for Dhawan, who slipped into depression because after a point he no longer felt like he was acting in a film.
