Egyptian media personality Hala Sarhan rejected the ongoing attack on the star Amr Diab , after he slapped one of his fans at the wedding of producer Mohamed Al-Saadi’s daughter.

She confirmed that from her experience she knows what the artist is exposed to while he is in the middle of a crowd, and that Amr Diab and any celebrity has the right to defend himself and his personal space.

Hala Sarhan wrote in her defense of Amr Diab through her account on the “X” platform: “On the topic of slander and hatred towards the great artist Amr Diab, because I know and have experienced a lot and witnessed with my own eyes what happens to a celebrity when he is among the crowd, and the crazy crowding of fans. These people's lives have become very difficult, because sometimes people crowd furiously to take a picture or talk to the artist, and they say that it is the tax of fame. I believe that the tax on success and fame is paid by the IRS and not by violating the privacy of people's bodies, and under that there are a million red lines.

“Hala” added: “In the past, people used to crowd together inside buses like sardines sometimes, and because not all people were angels or educated and feared God, there would be evil, lowly souls who would touch women in a dirty way, and if the woman screamed, the men present would execute the harasser with beatings and death. These days, the artist has become a commodity for the weak of soul. He takes the picture and uploads it. It does not matter if she is in a wedding, a hospital, or a funeral. What is important is the shot, salvation, and trade in the artist. This is a time of horrific harassment of celebrities.”

Hala Sarhan continued : “I ask my friends who are respectable and pious men: If a man harasses you and considers it permissible to touch you in an inappropriate and dirty way and touches your body, will you remain silent? Harassment and psychological and physical abuse are a kind of usurpation of a person’s privacy.
