International director Jim Sheridan honored and awarded the Golden Pyramid

The Cairo International Film Festival honored the great film director Jim Sheridan as the guest of honor of the 45th session, as part of the activities of the Cairo Film Industry Days, after he gave a lecture on art and the film industry. The lecture began with honoring Jim Sheridan and granting him the Golden Pyramid Award, and the award was presented to him by critic Essam Zakaria, director of the Cairo International Film Festival.

Jim Sheridan's lecture, moderated by film critic Mohamed Tarek, is part of a celebration of him. Sheridan is known for his films that celebrate place and its profound impact on the psyche. Sheridan shares his expertise and artistic vision in an extended talk, explaining how the physical, cultural and emotional landscapes of a place contribute to the development of character, plot and the overall visual and emotional tone of a film.

Cairo Industry Days (CID), which will be held from November 15 to 20, 2024, is a vital platform that aims to support and promote cinema projects, and provide rare opportunities for interaction between filmmakers from all over the world. This event witnesses the distinguished participation of directors, producers, and experts in various aspects of the film industry, who come together to explore the latest trends and exchange ideas and experiences.

Cairo Industry Days activities include workshops, dialogue sessions and discussions that address the challenges and needs of the market, which enhances the opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of new cinematic projects and reaffirms Egypt’s position as a regional center for cinematic creativity.

Cairo International Film Festival is one of the oldest festivals in the Arab world and Africa, as it is the only festival in the Arab and African region registered with the International Federation of Film Producers in Brussels (FIAPF).
