International Women's Day is history and rebellion

International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8 of each year. It is a day designated to celebrate women around the world in appreciation of their community efforts and in recognition of women's contribution to societies in general.

The spark of International Women's Day The first initiative to designate a women's day and support women's issues dates back to the year 1909, and its primary supporter was the American Socialist Party, which designated February 28 as a day to celebrate National Women's Day in the United States, in honor of the strike of garment workers that took place in New York in 1908, where these workers went out. In a protest march to demand reducing working hours, improving salaries, and obtaining women’s right to vote in elections.

In 1910, the International Conference of Socialist Women, held in Copenhagen, Denmark, called for the establishment of an International Women’s Day without specifying a specific date for the celebration.

Officially recognizing Women's Day The first international celebration of Women's Day began in 1911, in Australia, Denmark , Germany, and Switzerland , and in 2011 the centenary of International Women's Day was celebrated.

The celebration of International Women's Day gained an official character in 1975, when the United Nations began to celebrate this day.

Then, March 8th became a date for global celebration of women, regardless of their position in society, whether politically or economically, and even women raising their children, while the political roots of that event meant strikes and demonstrations were organized primarily to raise awareness of existing inequality between the sexes.
