Jumana Murad: “Naana” is like many women, and working with “Al-Fakharani” is a pleasure

Although she has played the popular role more than once, she is able to diversify the same role in a way that dazzles the audience, and she always chooses her roles carefully, in addition to her ability to convince the audience that the role she plays is one of the roles that enabled her to secure her place in the hearts of the viewers. She overlooks her audience. This year, she plays the character “Nanaa” starring in the series “Thresholds of Joy,” in which she appears as a popular girl different from what she previously presented.

We met with her to talk about the scenes behind it, her cooperation with the great director Magdy Abu Amira, and the distinguished artist Yahya Al-Fakharani, and the text of the dialogue:

- First of all, what about cooperation with the great artist Yahya Al-Fakharani ?

On the personal and artistic level, I love him very much, in addition to the fact that working with him is a pleasure, as he is a school of credibility in performance and expression, in addition to his acting being easy, spontaneous, and honest. It cannot be disputed that he is a great professor, and I was lucky to work with him, and I enjoyed working and filming with him very much. Because he is of great stature.

How do you describe working with the great director Magdy Abu Amira?

Several years ago, my first work in Egypt was supposed to be with the great professor Magdy Abu Amira through the series “Love is Death” which was directed by him. However, some changes occurred and the director of the work changed and it was directed by Mr. Magdy Ahmed Ali, and the meeting happened after many years. I met with him at work after all this time, and I am certainly happy with this cooperation. The great professor, Magdy Abu Amira, is a comfortable and calm person in the location, and fully aware of what he wants, and I, like “Jumana,” care that every director I work with be different. This is indeed what I found with director Magdy Abu Amira: “With him, I am different from any previous work.”

The work brings together many young stars, including Khaled Shubat, who is participating in an Egyptian work for the first time, and Anaba, the festivals singer. Our talk about the idea of young people being with Jomana Murad in the series?

I am very happy with these young people, and I love them on a personal level. If I talk about Anaba, he is one of the most delicious characters in the series and life, and I feel happy when I find a younger generation who have talent in more than one thing. As for Khaled, I hope that this experience will be a great addition for him in front of him. Dr. Yahya Al-Fakharani, who is a talented, beautiful, and committed person, and Anba and Khaled “do a good job” in the series, and I certainly wish them success and leaving a mark.

The series talks about many issues that concern public opinion. Do you think that discussing such issues in drama is a good thing?

Of course, because the function of drama is to shed light on the problems of society, but in order for these issues to be solved, we need 90 episodes, and this makes us try to shed light on these problems, and we also try as much as possible to present our point of view, or work to educate people or help them.

Is it possible to make a change in the scenario after you become involved with the character you are playing?

Of course, it's essential because I don't get the paper to tell it like it is, because the actor has to turn the paper into flesh and blood, so I definitely have to have extras in it.

“ Thresholds of Joy” belongs to the category of 15-episode series. What do you think of this experience?

The idea of 15 episodes is convenient, but I think that the audience in Ramadan prefers 30-episode series in Ramadan specifically, because they watch them throughout the month. However, as an actress, I like 15 episodes more, because I love and tend toward cinema more, and for me 30 episodes are “a lot,” and 45 are more. One episode is too many, and when the 15-episode series was remade, it felt delicious.

You said that you are more inclined towards cinema.. Is it possible for Jumana to sacrifice dramatic work for her sake or vice versa?

I prefer cinema, definitely without thinking.

“ United” this year has a diverse mix of series for the audience.. What does Jumana think of this difference?

I am very happy with this diversity and difference in the Ramadan 2024 drama. When I was browsing the posters on the street or the advertisements, I felt a rich, different and varied combination, and this diversity is useful. This year we have historical series, comedies, dramas and tragedies, so I am very happy, and these series are presented by United provides high quality products capable of competing globally.

What does artist Joumana Murad think about the digital platforms on which she displays artwork?

A beautiful idea, and the viewer feels comfortable, whether because of the absence of advertisements or the idea of watching episodes continuously without interruption for any reason. However, at the same time, television cannot be compared to the platform, because we have become accustomed to advertisements in Ramadan, especially while we are breaking the fast, to the point that it has become a ritual of Ramadan. .

How does Jumana Murad deal with criticism?

I definitely care about constructive criticism, and in fact most of the criticism that is directed at me is constructive criticism, and even if I am criticized for something, someone does not like it, but in a respectful way it makes me happy, because this sometimes draws my attention to things that I did not notice, while destructive criticism is criticism just for the sake of it. Criticism, I don't care about that.

What is your connection to social media?

I am not obsessed with social media, and I do not leave it at the same time. I am a fan of the means of communication, “Instagram,” especially since we in Egypt focus on it and love it more than “Snapchat.” From time to time, I post something and follow, but not “obsessively.” I personally enjoy “Insta and

It is said that social media has become more important than journalism and media, and it is possible for an artist to communicate what he wants at any time through it. What do you think about this?

Social media currently helps communicate anything at any time and from anywhere, but journalism has its role and another topic, and this cannot be canceled, and it is very important in the artist’s life, as it sheds light on the artist and his works, because the artist is not a blogger who speaks for himself. For me, as an artist, journalism is important in my life.

Do you feel anxious when you enter a new work and wait for the audience’s reaction?

I am very worried. He suggested that I be photographed while watching the episode. It is very comical, because I am very nervous and have strange expressions on my face. In addition, I talk to myself and criticize myself. The problem is that I am very harsh on myself and only see my faults. Being too harsh is not good. However, I am very hard on myself, and this is because I am very perfectionist in all matters of my life, and this is because what I see is not what people see.

Is this happening with “Jumana” even in light of the positive reactions you are getting?

In fact, every work I enter leaves an imprint and a mark on it, and this is a blessing from God, and people are overflowing with joy, but I respect myself and my audience, and I respect my art, so I try to be perfection all the time, and I am happy with people’s reactions, but nothing satisfies me, because If I reach the stage of satisfaction, for me this means failure. I must say I will introduce something new, I will do something different, it will be better next time, and so on. I have a conflict and a challenge between myself and myself.

Who does Jumana get an opinion on the scenario presented to her?

It is possible for me to talk about composition, directing, and writing with my friends, and hear their opinion and see if the idea attracted their attention or what, but the most important thing is that I love the role, because if I love the role, “the story is over,” and paper for me is the basis of everything, and a director discovers in me and emerges from within me. New things that I don't know, and he has a vision, and a respectable production company.

The acting profession is difficult and takes away from the artist’s feelings and private life. Do you agree with that?

The acting profession is really difficult, and there are times when there is so much pressure that we do not see our parents at this time or our family, and we fall short in some things, and I try all the time not to fall short in anything, but sometimes there is an unintentional shortcoming, because at a certain time We are governed by some things, and you feel that you are unable, and it is possible for me to bear anything except what relates to my children, because I am a strong mother, and more compassionate, because I feel that our children are our responsibility, and it is a great responsibility, and the idea is not limited to “I want to get married and have children,” the topic. Here it revolves around the fact that education is a responsibility and as they grow older the responsibility increases, and the issue is not limited to food and drink, the idea is in education and what we will grow, and this requires time and free time, and this is certainly because of our work it is difficult for us, and I try as much as possible to be in contact with them, and I take my vacation. With my children (my children in my arms).

What does Jumana say to spouses who enter into conflicts that result in harm to children, especially since they sometimes reach the courts?

“Get your children out of your troubles,” as the Almighty God said in the Qur’an, “and live with them in a fair manner,” and “divorce twice, then keep them in a fair manner or release them in a kind manner.” This does not mean that we must become enemies because this will affect the children and their psychology, and this will affect them and make them complicated. And they are abnormal, because education cannot be done by screaming and raising a loud voice, which makes children completely abnormal, shaky, and lacking in self-confidence. In the end, “Solve the problems away from the children, and let the separation not affect their upbringing.”

Do you think that the public is difficult to please?

I believe that it is difficult to please people in general in many things, but the story here is not that it is difficult to please the audience, because the audience is very smart, and the actor in the end must be diligent and sincere and give his best, and be honest in everything he does because this reaches people. If this is true to the audience, they will certainly be satisfied, because honesty in feeling is the most important thing.

Does the artist have to be present during Ramadan? Or has the year become Ramadan due to the large number of artistic works presented?

There are many “out of session” series that the audience watches a lot and is very interested in, and they also succeed to the point that they “break the world,” but we have become accustomed to Ramadan, which has a different taste.

What about your rituals in the month of Ramadan?

I ask them this year not to invite anyone to invite me, whether it is iftar or suhoor, because I do not like to break the fast outside the home. I love being with the family and I love gathering, and I would like to intensify worship in the month of Ramadan as much as possible because it is a month of worship. I also like to give a lot of time to my home and my family. Because I feel that as soon as I go out for suhoor or breakfast, “the time has passed.”

What about the foods you love most?

I love molokhiya in Egyptian food, and fattah in Syrian food.

What about your rituals after you finish photographing any artwork?

I love the sea, and after I finish filming, my family and I go to the northern coast.

What character do you wish to embody on screen?

I wish to present the character of Shajarat al-Durr in a historical work, but in general I would love to present any different role, and I would love to embody characters that do not resemble me.

What about your artistic plan after the end of Ramadan?

I am preparing for a movie and a series after Ramadan, but I cannot reveal it.

What about your statement, “I don’t have time to cheat on my husband,” and the public’s circulation of this statement?

It is necessary for one of us to change the other.

What about your children...do they have artistic inclinations?

My children are naturally talented in drawing and singing, and they love to play, in addition to many other activities, and I am a firm mother, even though I “pamper” them, because raising boys the mother must be firm, unlike raising girls.

What is the proverb that Jumana believes in?

In fact, all the sayings and proverbs told by our ancestors are true.

Jomana Murad's looks are always attractive and distinctive.. Talk about this?

I always love taking care of myself. I love dressing very much and being different in my dressing. I wear what suits me, far from fashion, and I love innovation and change because my nature is bored.
