Magdi Abu Amira talks about the series in his interview with “Specially”, and here is the text of the interview:

First of all, tell us about “joy” and “thresholds of joy”?

The joy for me is my return again to my mother company, Al-Adl Group, and the beautiful Professor Gamal Al-Adl. Al-Adl Group started their first production, in “Malak Rouhi”, “Mahmoud Al-Masry”, and “Ordinary Dreams”, and I consider Gamal Al-Adl to understand well the meaning of Production and drama, and we have chemistry in common, and he loves me and I love him, and this is the first thing in joy. As for Thresholds of Joy, it is a novel by the great writer Ibrahim Abdel Majeed, and the screenplay and dialogue were also written by my beloved, Dr. Medhat El Adl, whom we met together in “Mahmoud El Masry,” by the late great. Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, and also in “Ordinary Dreams,” where he wrote the sequence of the beginning and the end, and Thresholds of Joy by Dr. Yahya Al-Fakharani, whom I had previously dealt with in “Hamada Ezzo,” and “Wajha Al-Masry,” but “Thresholds of Joy,” the narrator, Dr. Medhat Al-Adl, was the one who nominated it, and he A nice series, with no killing, beatings, or fights, but a lace from the daily life of “Bahjat Al-Ansari,” who is Dr. Yahya Al-Fakharani, his grandchildren, and the atmosphere surrounding him.

Tell us about the artist Joumana Murad, especially since she was going to do her first work in Egypt with you, but it was not completed?

Indeed, this would have happened a very long time ago, almost 20 years ago, but it did not happen, and this is the fate of Professor Jamal bringing us together in the character of the brave girl of the country, who stands in the face of crises and repels them.

There is a new generation emerging.. What does the great director think about it?

We are presenting a work featuring the great artist Yahya Al-Fakharani, and I consider it the fruit of Ramadan, and as the art critic said about it, it is one of the rituals of Ramadan, and that he returns after 3 years, and people love and miss him, but Dr. Medhat Al-Adl focused on the aspect of youth and youth problems. I was not aware In it, the series focused on the dangers of the Internet, and things I did not know and learned through the series, and all of these things will attract young people to watch the work, especially since the new appearance of Yahya Al-Fakharani as Blogger.

Why were you surprised by the number of issues discussed in the artwork “Thresholds of Joy”?

Because I am away from the Internet, because a person must be focused on the Internet, and this is a good thing. It is also a good thing that we show the dangers of misuse of technology, the idea of dangerous dealing with the Internet, and things that I did not know and learned through working in this series, and this will attract a large part of the audience. Young people to watch the work, and the idea of the series, and I think that a large part of the youth thought that they would not know about it as well.

The series discusses the problems between grandparents and grandchildren. Do you think there are problems due to the difference in generations?

Of course, there is a conflict between generations, which is that each generation sees itself as better and better than the other, and there is a rivalry in dealings that reaches the point of being arrogant, and Grandpa Bahjat will enter deep into the thinking and world of young people, and he will get close to them, and the strangest thing is that he will learn from them, and find a language to communicate with them.

How does director Magdy Abu Amira deal with technology in photography and sound techniques and these matters?

I began to follow the modern development in technology, through photography cameras, the Alexa camera, the Five camera, and the Red camera. Regarding the photography system in the past and present, the first one was working through the 3-camera system, and the scene was being depicted by OneTek, until the system changed in 2011, and the story began for I have the system that we are currently working with, since the series “The Slap” in 2011, I filmed it with “5 A”, then the series Al-Qasrat 2013, the series Layali Al-Helmeya 2016, then the first and second parts of “Qawt Al-Qulub” in 2019, and 2020 I filmed with “Elkisa”, as if we were We deal with cinema, and each camera records on its own and has no editor, and one of the advantages of modern technologies is that the picture is completely different from before, and every time the technologies and cameras develop, it is a difficult system, but it is fun, and the modern system is a great cost to the producer because the number of workers behind the cameras is very large, because Each camera has its own team, and there are very large stages after the completion of filming, including editing, coloring, and mixing, but in the end the result is great quality, and he gets a lot of time.

What do you think of the 15-episode series?

The truth is that the artist Yahya Al-Fakharani was against me at first, because he wanted the series to be 30 episodes, considering that I filmed all of my series for 30 episodes, and this is what happened over the course of 19 years in Ramadan, but I was happy with the 15. Dr. Medhat Al-Adl and I were very happy with the 15 episodes, and Mr. Jamal Al-Adl, it is between 30 and 15, but what's the problem? I liked 15 so that the series has a fast pace, and this also helps to finish filming quickly, because 30 takes a long time to film, and people get bored of each other during The other is in filming due to the long days, but I think that if the idea of 15 episodes continues, it will be a wonderful idea, and at the same time the viewer will have the opportunity for diversity in viewing.

The first day of filming was a big event for director Magdy Abu Amira. Tell us about this?

Indeed, I am wearing the first red sweater on the first day of filming, in 20 years. I am optimistic about it, and this is the norm. This year, at the thresholds of joy, it was the first day of filming in Zayed, and Dr. Medhat and Gamal Al-Adl were present.

What about works on digital platforms?

Her idea is very great. My daughter asks me for the series “Thresholds of Joy” to be available on a digital platform, because she is accustomed to watching the series without commercial breaks. Although there was a producer 20 years ago who offered me to film a series and show it on YouTube, I rejected the idea and considered it an understatement. It would work, until it developed into platforms.

What does director Magdy Abu Amira think of the works that are presented with +18 and +15?

It is a graduation due to the presence of some scenes, but thank God, Atabat Al-Bahja received a general audience rating, and this made me very happy.

There are many societal issues that are presented in drama.. Do we have a paper crisis?

Of course, we have a severe paper crisis, unfortunately, and a crisis in the idea of workshops, because I consider that writing is one point of view, and directing is also one point of view, but I see that there are many writing workshops that have become a fashion, and in directing there are 3 and 4 units, as a result of the lack of time, Ramadan is approaching, with many units fearing, and this is not good.

What do you think of them saying that they are keen to be present during the Ramadan season constantly?

This has been happening for a long time, as the month of Ramadan is the month of joy and joy, and the Ramadan series is what lives in all frankness, but the off-season series are produced to consume time, but in order not to talk about inaccurate matters, some works that take place outside of Ramadan, such as Abu Al-Arousa, may have succeeded in a great way. big.

Which artists do you like to work with from the current generation?

There is a group of excellent young stars, and I worked with big stars in their prime, such as the artist Ahmed Ezz, Ahmed Zaher, Rizk, Hala Shiha, Mai Ezz El-Din, Somaya El-Khashab, Menna Shalabi, and all of them. I do not favor a particular person, but I see all the young stars who... They win championships, they are very good. The last thing I saw was a series by a young artist named Taha El-Desouki, in the series “Hala Khasa”, and it was very beautiful.

Taha Al-Desouki Do you agree with what is said that the artistic community is paralyzed?

Some of this is true, but art does not like mediocrity, and even if this happened, it would still work, but it would not live.

Does the great director Magdy Abu Amira remain passionate about reactions even after the work is presented?

I am not passionate, I am very concerned, from the beginning of the directing until the end, until the time of its presentation, and I wait for the reactions of the audience and critics, and currently the opinions of social media have appeared and I have created masterpieces of drama before they appear, and I believe that social media has a major role in the success of a number of The artwork though has languished at times in recent years.

Are audiences more picky now than in the past?

Of course, in the past, people were satisfied with stories and such, but now, in the era of open skies and intense competition, the public has become very aware and does not like wonder, so you must offer them work that satisfies their desire.

Finally.. What about your rituals in the holy month of Ramadan?

My rituals are like any other person. Even when I am filming Ramadan series, I have to fast. Fasting and prayer are sacred, especially since I was deprived of Ramadan rituals for 23 years. When I was not working, and this happened in two years, I enjoyed Ramadan very much. It is the first time I see the sweetness of Ramadan while I am sitting at home, and my children are kings. Haylene's art critics are very supportive, and I feel very happy after I finish watching the episode and they applaud.
