Media personality Basma Wahba sparked widespread controversy after revealing the contents of a lengthy phone call she had with actor Ahmed El Sakka, which addressed recent rumours of his separation from his wife, media personality Maha El Sagheer, after a marriage that lasted for nearly 26 years.

She emphasized that she was surprised by what he said, saying, "I thought I would strongly reprimand El-Sakka, but what I heard from him made me reconsider."

During the call, El-Sakka confirmed, according to Wahba, that he had never assaulted Maha El-Sagheer, neither verbally nor physically, emphasizing his respect for her. He indicated that the disagreements between them were the result of recent changes in her personality, saying, "Maha is no longer the Maha I know."
