In an interview with et Arabic, Mai Farouk said: “What we did was announce to the public our engagement, but suddenly, while I was at home and saw the news being published, all of which were untrue, I felt that the worst thing in the world is when you become a trending topic or indicate that you are... You gain success at someone else's expense, or you speak incorrectly about someone in order to gain more views.”

Mai Farouk continued , saying: “This is life, and we are human beings who saw everything that happened after the engagement was announced, and it was an unpleasant experience. We were joking on Facebook about the issue of the age difference, but in the end, people had nothing to do with this matter, and praise be to God.
