Media figure Abir Rahhal's husband shoots her and commits suicide

A horrific crime that took place this Thursday afternoon topped the search engines, as journalist Abir Rahhal was killed by a bullet to the head fired by her husband, Khalil Masoud, who later committed suicide, in front of the courthouse in the town of Shehim in the Iqlim al-Kharoub region of Mount Lebanon Governorate.

The murdered media figure had filed a divorce suit against her husband, and the hearing was scheduled for next month. However, while they were in court, the husband shot her dead at the door of the building, and fled to an unknown location.

Not more than two hours after committing his crime inside the Shehim Sharia Court, Masoud posted a video clip on his Facebook account detailing his personal disputes with his late media wife, specifically the financial ones related to working on a local website he claimed to have founded.

Video of husband before suicide Masoud also accused an officer of the Internal Security Forces in Lebanon of “bias” in this case in favor of the victim, and accused his wife of “having relationships that harm her reputation.”

Masoud said in the video: "When you watch this video, I will have departed this world," while a security source stated in press statements that the husband's body was found after he committed suicide.

According to available information, the couple have three children, while Masoud was previously married and had children from another wife.
