However, what happened in Kuwait crossed acceptable boundaries, as he saw that the matter was not merely a slip of the tongue or spontaneity, but rather blatant mockery that required taking firm measures to ensure respect for religious and societal values.

Mustafa Kamel said in his statement: “For two full days, I have been watching the video of the artist Sherine Abdel Wahab during her concert in the sisterly and beloved State of Kuwait, and I have often used my mind and heart in what was said on her tongue in voice and image in front of the audience, the band and the cameras. This time, the voice of reason overcame me and my feelings and triumphed over the feelings of the heart, which often sympathized, supported, and sought excuses for the great artist Sherine Abdel Wahab. My mind screamed in my conscience, saying that what Sherine Abdel Wahab did this time is nothing but absurdity and disregard for all religious, societal, human and artistic values, and requires accountability.”

He added: "Our hearts were squeezed by all of us singers, composers and poets, and they are still squeezed by sadness over his departure, while Sherine Abdel Wahab's feelings were only overwhelmed by the feeling of throwing completely inappropriate jokes when mentioning Mohamed Rahim, once with the phrase 'we are making him a bad habit', then the phrase 'this will become a trend', then the sound of laughter rose, and she concluded the unfortunate scene by describing herself as a scandal with the phrase 'I am a scandal'."

Mustafa Kamel continued: “We all forgave Sherine Abdel Wahab, the sister, daughter, artist and friend, the union, media, press and fans, a lot and a lot, and we explained and justified this forgiveness with her artistic status and the circumstances surrounding her family, psychologically and morally, intending to return her to her place, and in order to continue to forgive, we deliberately decided to support, help and back her without a real desire to correct her, and I watched the videos over and over again and I did not feel at all any spontaneity, unintentionality or slip of the tongue, which are the justifications that we always used to present to forgive, support and back Sherine Abdel Wahab.”

The union affirms its commitment to neutrality and holding everyone accountable

Mustafa Kamel concluded his statement by stressing that the Musicians Syndicate is committed to the principles of justice and equality among its members without discrimination, noting that representing Egypt abroad requires respect for values and principles. He explained that the Syndicate will continue to investigate the incident to ensure that appropriate measures are taken, stressing that the sanctity of death and the recitation of Al-Fatiha cannot be underestimated under any circumstances.
