Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman receives Syrian President Sharaa

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received the Syrian President in the transitional phase, Ahmed al-Sharaa, who is on a visit to Saudi Arabia.

According to Saudi media, Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Al-Sharaa will discuss developments in the Syrian arena, plans to establish security and stability in Syria, prospects for political and economic relations between the two countries, and efforts to lift sanctions on Syria.

Sharia on first foreign visit

President Al-Shara arrived in Saudi Arabia on his first visit abroad since assuming power in Damascus following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime. He was received by the Deputy Emir of Riyadh, Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Aziz, and was accompanied by the Syrian Foreign Minister, Asaad Al-Shaibani.

Saudi efforts to advance

The capital, Riyadh, had previously hosted ministerial meetings, with prominent Arab and international participation. Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan stressed, in a press conference following the meetings, the importance of lifting the unilateral and international sanctions imposed on Syria.

He also announced, in a press conference following the meetings, welcoming the steps taken by the new Syrian administration, stressing the continuation of providing support to Syria.

First Arab leader to visit Syria

On the other hand, the first visit of an Arab leader to Damascus after the inauguration of Sharaa was by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who visited Syria on Thursday and discussed ways of cooperation to advance Syria after the fall of the Assad regime.

Ahmed Al-Sharaa's installation and speeches

Ahmed al-Sharaa reached the presidency and was announced as the president of the transitional phase more than 50 days after the fall of the Assad regime and Bashar al-Assad’s escape to Russia.

Last Wednesday, Al-Sharaa delivered a speech on the “victory of the Syrian revolution,” in which he announced the dissolution of the fighting factions and their integration into the Ministry of Defense, the dissolution of the Baath Party, all the parties of the Front, and the People’s Assembly.

Then he gave a brief speech to the Syrian people, in which he stressed the upcoming steps in security, safety, economy and politics.
