Seven statements by director Khaled Youssef regarding the criticisms of “Sorah Al-Batea”: some of them are “fake”

Widespread controversy was sparked by the Egyptian series "Serra Al-Bati'" on social media, after showing the first episodes of it. "Napoleon" as the former is long while the latter was short, as well as several other criticisms.

After all these criticisms, the director, Khaled Youssef, decided to break his silence to respond to most of the criticisms that affected the work, during his meeting on the “Your Interaction” program broadcast on the “Al Arabiya” channel, and “Specially” monitors the most prominent of what the director said:

1. Criticism of the features of the extra soldiers and the cotton clothing they wore, which I consider “outrageous.” Regular cotton clothing has existed in Egypt for 7,000 thousand years, and who can enter the screen and know this is cotton or linen.

2. The scenes of the crowds are huge, including more than 2,000 extras. The directing assistants did not notice that some did not wear combat boots. After filming the scene, I saw it and re-filmed it again, but in the montage the old one was put in by mistake. After the first show, I corrected the mistake and apologized, and it is not reasonable. The scene is disciplined and we hold the "kochi".

3. The claims that I use the music of my previous films are very true, and the reason for this is that I am attached to a specific musical theme and imagine the scene on it, and I did that before in the movie “Hena Maysara”, so I combined the music of the movie “Al-Asifa” and “Between Sharia”. This is the music of my films, and I ask permission from its owners. You, as a viewer and critic, say that the music is not expressive or has not added a dimension.

4. Whoever talks about Napoleon's height does not understand art. When Youssef Chahine directed "Al-Nasser Salah El-Din" he brought Ahmed Mazhar and his height is 165 centimetres, while the description of "Al-Nasser" in the books is that he is tall and broad-shouldered. The issue is not a match but rather gives the spirit of personality.

5. The Egyptians know the chariot from the days of Ahmose. How can they not think of a chariot drawn by horses? There are no attempts to catch mistakes.

6. I am a controversial person all the time, and if the work bears the name of another director, the audience could have said that it was a new opening in artistic drama.

7. Criticism does not bother me. On the contrary, it causes more publicity and debate, and I have no problem even with "fascialization".
