Sherihan suffered temporary paralysis due to her intense grief over the death of her brother Omar Khorshid, who was like a spiritual father to her, as he died in a car accident in 1981. She also suffered another shock that caused her intense grief after the death of her mother, who was diagnosed with heart cancer in 1987.

She was involved in a horrific accident in 1989, when her car flipped over several times and she suffered fractures in her spine and pelvis, in addition to various injuries to the rest of her body. At that time, Sherihan lost the ability to move and was lying on the bed in her home, looking at the ceiling of her room. A glimmer of hope appeared when she decided to travel on a private plane to France and undergo surgery, which took about 10 hours. She was then taken to intensive care, but she disobeyed the doctor’s orders to rest and insisted on getting out of bed and moving, as if she was telling everyone that she would make it up stronger than before.

In 2002, she was diagnosed with salivary gland cancer, one of the most aggressive types of cancer. She disappeared from her audience to fight the fiercest battle a human being can fight. She underwent many operations and suffered from weight loss. Sometimes her weight would drop to 37 kilos and then increase to 117 kilos. Sometimes her features would change to the point that no one would recognize her.

The star Sherihan relied on the love of the audience, who considered her their daughter and beloved, to help her overcome her illness. They prayed for her, worshipped her, and brought her closer to God. She gathered her strength and won her battle with pain.
