Shimaa Seif.. The journey of sleeve gastrectomy between hesitation and support from friends

In a candid interview with the artist, Esaad Younes, on the “Sahibet Al-Saada” program on the DMC channel, the Egyptian artist, Shaima Seif, talked about her experience with the sleeve gastrectomy operation that she recently underwent to lose weight.

Shimaa Seif and the decision to have a sleeve gastrectomy: Moments of anxiety and hesitation Shaimaa began to narrate the difficult moments she experienced before the operation, as she felt hesitant and extremely afraid on the day of the operation. She said that she thought about running away when they gave her the robe, but the doctor was prepared and made sure not to let her leave.

Shaima also shared a funny incident that happened when she woke up from the effects of anesthesia, as she was in a state of hallucination and asked the medical staff to bring all kinds of food from the supermarket, indicating her attachment to food even in the most difficult times.

Farewell to food.. emotional challenges before the operation Shaimaa did not hide her mixed feelings about her decision to undergo the gastric sleeve surgery, as she expressed her sadness in the days leading up to the operation, describing it as a farewell to food. She explained that she had been eating large quantities of the foods she loved, such as pigeon, trotters, chicken, sausage and pasta, as part of her farewell to food before changing her diet.

After the operation, although she did not feel any pain, Shaima suffered from sugar withdrawal and had to live on IVs for a week before she was able to drink juice. She described this period as difficult, as she had a strong desire to eat chocolate and food.

Encouragement and support from Mai Kassab and fellow artists Shimaa touched on the influence of artist Mai Kassab on her decision to undergo gastric sleeve surgery, saying that Mai was one of her biggest supporters, in addition to the encouragement of the doctor following up on her case. She pointed out that she prayed the night before the operation, hoping that things would go well.

It is noteworthy that Shimaa Seif recently participated in the play “Malek and Al-Shater” as part of the Riyadh Season activities, alongside a number of stars such as Ahmed Ezz, Yousra, and Sayed Ragab, which won the admiration of the audience thanks to their distinctive roles.
