Syrian actress, Sulaf Fawakherji, mocked rumors of her marriage to former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, after a document allegedly showing her marriage contract to Assad was circulated on social media. She commented sarcastically, "Don't be offended, we did it out of frustration. We didn't invite anyone."

The Syrian actress clarified in a post on her official Facebook account that the circulated document is forged and contains errors in her date and place of birth and her father's name.

Sulaf Fawakherji said : “My birth, according to official documents, was three days after my birth, meaning on August 1, 1977, the Syrian and Lebanese Army Day. My father’s name, may God have mercy on him, was Muhammad, not Muhammad Salim. My house was in the Saliba Project and House 65, and that’s where I see myself.”

Slaf Fawakherji added: "So if you want to amend it, you geniuses and gurus... because the contract is considered invalid in this way, God forbid. Last time, you made a mistake in one of the marriage documents that we saw in the sect box, and in Syria we don't have a sect box, and people laughed at you, but never mind... you learned."
