Cairo International Stadium hosts a major sporting event today, as Al Ahly of Egypt hosts Al Ain of the Emirates in the Intercontinental Cup for Clubs.

Thanks to Al Ahly's high ranking, the African champions will play the match at home in the first edition of the tournament launched by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).

Al-Ahly enters the match with high morale after winning the Egyptian Super Cup by defeating Zamalek on penalties, regaining its balance after losing to its traditional rival in the African Super Cup last month.

In contrast, Al Ain are going through an unstable phase, having lost 5-4 to Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal in the AFC Champions League, before achieving a difficult 1-1 draw with Dibba Al-Hisn, who are bottom of the UAE league, in a match in which coach Hernan Crespo relied on reserve players.

The match was approved to be held in a stadium full of fans, after obtaining the necessary security permits to accommodate the full capacity of the stadium.

Channels broadcasting the Al-Ahly and Al-Ain match The match will be broadcast on three open channels: the first is “Abu Dhabi Sports” with commentary by Amer Abdullah, and the second is “On Time Sport” with commentary by Khalil Al Balushi.

The third channel is MBC Egypt, where Fares Awad and Fahad Al-Otaibi will commentate on the match.
