<p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr">The Syrian Artists Syndicate issued a decision today to dismiss four members from the Syndicate's Central Council.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"></p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> Cancel the membership of these artists </p><figure class="image"><img style="aspect-ratio:765/1020;" src="https://cdn.sbisiali.com/news/images/9e1f0ef2-3d4b-4730-bbaa-9bdccfe39d67.jpg" ></figure><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> The artists are: Amal Huwaija, Mays Harb, Nour Mahna, and Mohammed Al-Rashi. The Syndicate also terminated the appointment of Youssef Abdo as a member of the Central Council, due to his deviation from the Syndicate’s goals, according to the decision.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> The union confirmed that the reason for the two decisions was the issuance of actions that were inconsistent with the values and principles of union work.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"></p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> New appointments </p><figure class="image"><img style="aspect-ratio:1024/614;" src="https://cdn.sbisiali.com/news/images/65b9a917-6c31-4766-893b-d2d31f759cc2.jpg" ></figure><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> The Syndicate appointed six members to its Central Council, including Hussein Al-Mutlaq as Secretary, in addition to Cosette Bakir, Jihad Azar, Rawaa Yassin, Zuhair Qanou, and Ali Al-Qasim.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"></p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> Confusion in decisions </p><figure class="image"><img style="aspect-ratio:1116/837;" src="https://cdn.sbisiali.com/news/images/fabb99ea-8793-4c00-a7d0-9def707b2685.jpg" ></figure><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> On May 4, the head of the Syrian Artists Syndicate, Mazen Al-Nattour, revoked the decision issued by the Syndicate Council to withdraw confidence from him as head of the Syndicate, via a statement issued by the Syndicate of Artists' Facebook page.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"></p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> Al-Nattour considered the decision to withdraw confidence invalid, as it violates the provisions of Law No. 40 of 2019 and the provisions of the internal regulations governing the work of the Artists Syndicate. He attributed this to the following reasons:</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> The assigning authority is the authority authorized to terminate the assignment based on the provisions of the general law and in accordance with Article 51 of Law No. 40, noting that the assigning authority is the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, by its Decision No. 209 issued on March 25, pursuant to the same article. Accordingly, the assigning authority is the only authority legally authorized to terminate this assignment. </p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"></p><figure class="image"><img style="aspect-ratio:800/450;" src="https://cdn.sbisiali.com/news/images/74899d57-b5e0-4e00-9193-c30a06d7a600.png" ></figure><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> The Syrian Artists Syndicate Council announced the withdrawal of confidence from the head of the Syndicate, Mazen Al-Nattour, and the appointment of his deputy, artist Nour Mahna, as interim head until a new head is elected.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> The decision also explained that the vote of no confidence was due to what it described as "monopolization and individualization of decision-making, marginalization of Central Council members, and violation of the law regulating the union's work."</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> The conflicting decisions issued by the Syndicate of Artists and the Syndicate Council have generated controversy among social media users regarding their legality.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> It is noteworthy that Al-Nattour assumed the position of the Syndicate of Artists' President on March 5, succeeding Mohsen Ghazi.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"></p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"></p>
