After Forrest Gump goes to Vietnam under the command of Lieutenant Dan Taylor, during the battles his platoon is ambushed and his friend Bubba is killed. During the exchange of fire, Forrest returns and recovers all his dead and wounded comrades, which makes him receive the Medal of Honor.

Then Forrest Gump starts playing table tennis and after returning to Washington and being honored by President Johnson, Forrest notices an anti-war demonstration where he meets Jenny who has become a hippie and is treated badly by her colleagues and Forrest tries to protect her in vain.

Jenny becomes addicted to drugs and continues to move from one failed relationship to another. Then Forrest is discharged from the army and asks him to agree to use his image on a table tennis racket for $25,000, which enables him to buy a boat to fulfill his promise to Bubba and name it Jenny. Dan fulfills his promise and joins him in his shrimp fishing and farming endeavors.

A storm destroys all the fishing boats except for the Jenny. Forrest becomes a successful fisherman and discovers that his mother is dying and returns to her.

One day, Jenny visits him at his house and stays with him for a while. They end up spending an intimate night together. The next day, she leaves the house, leaving Forrest stunned. He starts running around the country without stopping except for sleeping and eating. His constant running has made him a celebrity in the country, and he even attracts Jenny's attention.

The scene returns to the present on the bench at the bus stop and Forrest tells the woman sitting next to him that he is coming to visit Jenny who wrote to him and when he went to see her she introduced him to her son and told him that the boy is his son and that she is sick with an unknown virus and will die soon so Forrest decides to marry her and they live happily but Jenny dies in the end

Forrest Gump was a huge success. The film was a huge success in the mid-1990s, becoming the second highest-grossing film worldwide that year with a total revenue of $678.2 million against its $55 million budget. It went on to win six Academy Awards.
