Yara Bishi, Miss Earth, in an exclusive interview: “Behind the scenes of the title are difficult.”

Miss Earth, a symbol of elegance not only in appearance, but she demonstrated this well through her conversation with us. She combines internal and external beauty, as she has culture in various fields and good speech. She honored her country and defied many difficulties to obtain a title that is not easy in the world of fashion. She is Yara Bishi, with whom Speciali conducted an interview, in which she spoke from her heart about the scenes of her obtaining the title of Miss Earth, her dreams and ambitions, the difficulties of the fashion field, and many things that you can find in the following dialogue:

First of all, how does Yara introduce herself to the public in person?

An advocate of peace, humanity, and gender equality above all else. I believe that my local and global progress and achievements are a large part of my definition of myself as a model. I am a beauty queen and a lawyer who calls for gender equality and peace. My passion to achieve these achievements and excellence is part of my being as a woman who wants to leave a mark of success, peace, love, kindness and humanity everywhere I am or where my influence reaches.

Being born Palestinian is an honor, of course, but it costs you additional burdens compared to any other nationality amid the difficult circumstances that Palestine is witnessing. How did you challenge that and become the famous, successful Yara?

In general, the life we live is not easy, as our lives stop approximately every half year due to wars and unstable situations, which stops our work and our lives for repeated periods of time. This creates difficulties and constitutes a major obstacle to our dreams and our desire for progress and creativity. Before I traveled to the competition, I went through many difficulties, including the closure of sewing places and the closure of streets, and this made the preparation stages more difficult and dangerous. However, despite this, I turn the hardships we are going through into the fuel that keeps me going, so I make this pain incentives to move forward to achieve dreams and leave a positive impact of change in my country and the world.

When did your interest in the fashion field begin?

I have always loved photography, and since my teenage years, everyone around me noticed that I had a new and striking type in my movements and poses in pictures, in addition to the catwalk that distinguished me. From here, I began developing myself, and fashion shops, designers, salons, and makeup experts began contacting me for days of photography and shows. I realized that I have many of the abilities and qualities required for this profession in my appearance and personality.

Personally, when I choose to enter a specific field, I enter it from its wide door. Immediately upon entering this field, I announced my decision that I will go global and will not accept achievements that are less than the international achievements that I deserve, and here I am achieving them in a young generation. After that, they started contacting me from advertising offices, beauty contests, and acting roles, so I decided to add these branches to my field, and as everyone saw, I made a fateful decision for me and my country, which was my entry into the world of international beauty titles.

The title of Miss Earth is important. What is the background behind your preparation and how did you develop yourself to reach this position and be crowned with it?

This is a very important question because everything I shared were moments of success, which were during the competition in international photography studios and on stages as a beauty queen, and no one saw the amount of fatigue, effort and hardships that I went through in the last 3 months before I traveled to Vietnam to represent my country in the international Miss Earth competition. Miss Earth. After my fame as a model increased with experience in my country, and after I submitted interviews, I was awarded the title of beauty and was chosen to represent my country in Miss Earth. I have provided details of my achievements in my career as a model, my measurements, and many other details, as acceptance into the Miss Earth competition is considered the most difficult of all titles.

After this stage came the stage of 7 videos in which each beauty queen introduces herself and her country, in which I explain about myself, my achievements, my country and our wonderful and very sophisticated culture. It is worth noting that I wrote the script, produced and directed the videos, as I chose the photographers, the makeup experts, and the entire crew who participated every day of filming.

After this difficult stage, an even more difficult stage came, which is preparing the designs and everything I will need during the competition. Fortunately for me, I work as a fashion model, and I was able to have the largest shops and fashion designers in my country join me, and I traveled to the competition with their distinguished, elegant designs.

This is all a small part of the preparations and pressures that I went through and analyzed on my own in order to ensure that I represent my country in the best way.

What are the difficulties in the fashion field in your opinion?

There are many difficulties in the field of fashion shows and beauty queens.

First, a complete interference in my life as a model or beauty queen, such as the conditions of not getting married and keeping a waist less than 60 centimeters, which for me is not a problem, but this interference may put pressure on some people.

Secondly, many people who work in this field try to exploit or harm models physically, sexually or even psychologically, which is why models must remain alert and strong more than in any other job or profession.

Third, the field requires a spirit of challenge, progress, and rapid development to keep pace with the rapid changes in the field, as neglecting offers, even if only for a short period of time, may lead to a decrease in the model’s fame and price.

Fourth, working as a fashion model requires knowing how to behave and work under pressure, which is physically tiring, as my work requires me to stand in high heels for long hours and days in a row.

Fifthly, a model must be open-minded and therefore she may notice preconceived ideas directed at us, but it is important to mention that the world has now begun to follow and contemplate fashion models and queens with great admiration and appreciation.

What is your routine to keep your skin fit and fresh?

Frankly, I do not have a routine to maintain my fitness or skin, thanks to the genes that I have been blessed with.

Despite this, I have recently concluded many contracts and agreements on an international level, and the parties to these contracts have encouraged me to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle only because it protects our bodies from diseases and not because I need it. But it only partially worked as I believe there is no reason to deprive ourselves of anything and personally my eating does not affect my appearance. I also see a lot of my friends, models and beauty queens, who adopt harsh routines that end up causing great harm to their physical and psychological health.

I will tell you a little secret that everyone who meets me knows, which is that chocolate accompanies me everywhere.

What does Yara think about plastic surgery?

As a beauty queen with a local title and an international title, I have never and will never perform plastic surgery. I do not support cosmetic surgery, but I respect those who choose to undergo it, despite my personal opinion, which does not support all forms of cosmetic surgery. As a beauty queen for my country and the earth, part of my message to the world is love for oneself, the nature of our features, and our spontaneity.

I believe that God created us in the best image and that cosmetics have become a fashion because of social networking sites that have deluded girls that they have to be perfect, and this is wrong and unreal, as they are on the way to becoming identical in appearance because of cosmetics, and I like to remain the original and only version of myself.

Is modeling as easy as some people imagine?

never. I don't even think that anyone imagines that fashion shows are easy, because it is clear how difficult and dangerous they are.

The field of fashion modeling is a broad field and full of challenges. Entering it is not easy, and excelling in it requires effort, love, and great passion for this field. I always say that it is not possible to continue and be creative in the field of fashion shows and makeup unless the model has a strong personality, sacrifice with broad limits, open thinking, knowledge of dealing and forming a network of acquaintances, overwhelming passion, and strong motivations that increase along the way.

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

There are a lot of words that I and others might use to describe me but in general I would choose to describe myself with a saying

“Passionate”, “smart”, “distinguished”.

What are you dreaming about right now?

First, I dream of living in a world that believes only in peace and humanity, where we do not see wars or the killing of any innocent soul. Secondly, I dream of completing my work, which has raised and continues to raise the status of women in general and Arab women in particular. I generally do not share my dreams in order to work on them quietly and leave the big noise until they are achieved. But I can say that my upcoming plans are close, and they are certainly global and represent achievements that no woman from my country has ever accomplished before. The things I have accomplished and am working on are huge investigations, as I have become accustomed to my countrymen and my fans.
