She said: “I wished I could have been with my mother in her last days, but circumstances forced this painful distance on me.”</p><h3 style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> <span style="color:hsl(187, 48%, 51%);">Yara Sabri: “My Syrian identity cannot be taken away”</span></h3><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> Yara spoke about the details of her trip to Canada after she was prevented from renewing her Syrian passport, due to accusations of treason and supporting terrorism, accusations she strongly denied.<br><br> Yara confirmed her adherence to her Syrian identity, saying: “I am Syrian whether you like it or not, with or without a passport.”<br><br> Sabry explained that the choice to immigrate to Canada came after years of living in a state of instability, and she said: “I needed security for me and my family. We will all return. If there is no safety for all the people, then returning has no meaning.”<br><br> Despite being away from home, Yara confirmed that she is grateful for her current life in Canada, where she was able to build her artistic career and continue to present works that are loved and admired by the public.<br><br> “I am happy with my life now, but Syria will always be in my heart,” she said.<br></p>
