The star Ziad Bourji enlivened one of the nights of the Mawazine Festival - Rhythms of the World, in front of a large audience, where he performed a large group of his most famous songs.

On the sidelines of his participation in the 20th edition of the festival, the Lebanese star held a press conference in which he spoke about many personal and artistic matters. He was careful not to answer a question about the developments in his dispute with the star Elissa, and was content with a diplomatic response, confirming that the matter is now in the hands of the judiciary.

He also expressed his desire to separate his participation in the festival from any personal or legal tensions, saying, "We don't want to drag this issue down the throats of Mawazine. We're here today to celebrate and sing. This is a purely legal matter, and my legal representative will handle it."

He also refused to address poet Ahmed Madi's recent statements, saying, "As for any other topic... let's be happy."

The secret of the rosary in his hand

During the press conference, he talked about the rosary that was in his hand and caught the attention of journalists. He said spontaneously: “I am an average smoker, but I recently gained weight and wanted to quit, so they told me that if I carry a rosary, I will stop smoking. So I got a rosary, held it in my left hand and smoked with my right!” He added: “One of my lifelong friends, Maroun Fakhry, gave me this rosary. I greet him… It is dear to me and I have come to love it.”

Speaking about his personal life, Burji spoke about his relationship with his children, stressing that he follows up on every detail of their lives, even when he is abroad. He explained that he doesn't mind one of them getting involved in the field of art, provided they have true talent, saying: "I don't impose anything on my children, but if one of them has true talent and imposes on me their love and passion for art, as I did with my parents, I won't stand in their way."

He continued: “My children have a strong musical sense and express accurate and intelligent opinions about the songs they hear. I see them as natural critics, and therefore it is my duty to convey to them the essence of my experience and explain to them that success in art is not easy and that it requires a lot of effort and perseverance.”
